Hello

I'm Claire, the founder and energy behind Chrysalis K9.

I named my business Chrysalis K9 because, like the chrysalis, the journey of transformation in dog training and behavior isn’t always immediately beautiful or easy, but it holds the promise of something extraordinary. Just as a caterpillar emerges from its chrysalis as a beautiful butterfly, my goal is to guide dogs and their owners through a process of growth and change, leading to a stronger bond and a more harmonious life together. Every dog has the potential for transformation, and I’m here to help them—and their owners—unfold into the best versions of themselves.

I work with all breeds of dog be they a tiny toy breed, a leggy sighthound or a sturdy bull breed. I am insured and experienced at working with exempted breed dogs and exempted breed dogs are welcome at all of our events and activities as we can make adjustments to comply with the law as it currently stands.

My Story

I am a COAPE Level 5 qualified dog trainer and behaviourist with a strong commitment to kind and ethical training methods. My philosophy is rooted in the belief that training should be both compassionate and practical, ensuring that dogs not only thrive but also fit seamlessly into the demands of modern society. As a member of The School of Canine Science - High Performers, I stay at the cutting edge of dog training and behavior, continuously engaging in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to keep my skills sharp and up-to-date.

Beyond my local practice, I serve as the UK-based behaviourist and trainer for Hope for Podencos and Galgos Del Sol, organizations dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of Spanish sighthounds. At home, I share my life with eight rescue dogs, each bringing their own unique personality and challenges, further enriching my experience as a trainer.

Together with my dogs, I participate in a wide array of canine sports and activities, including canicross, bikejor, agility, hoopers, trick training, mantrailing, scent work, and lure coursing. These activities not only provide physical and mental stimulation for my dogs but also enhance my expertise in various training techniques.

In addition to my dog training work, I am part-time employed at a specialist school, where my dogs and I support young people with diverse special needs. This work underscores the therapeutic power of dogs and the positive impact they can have on human lives.

My business offers a range of services, including 1-2-1 behavioral support, group classes, and special events such as canicross races and summer camps focused on dog training. Whether you're looking to address specific behavioral issues, enhance your dog’s training, or simply explore new activities together, I’m here to help you and your dog succeed in meeting the demands of everyday life while building a strong, positive relationship.
